ikea has it all. teenagers gather to mourn a friend killed in a horrific car crash. tonight abc7 news has learned the driver who caused the wreck will be charged. good evening. i'm katie marcoulo. ama dates has the night off. more on that in a minute. first, it is dry outside right now, but you can expect wet weather tomorrow. we want to get to meteorologist leigh glaser for a look at what is ahead on live doppler 7hd. >> we will see a few light showers mainly in the north bay and developing overnight tonight and in throughout the day tomorrow. that is about it. not a big storm at all. you can see the clouds are starting to move in across the bay area. we will continue in the north bay because they have had off and on reports of light showers scattered about from cloverdale toward hillsburg, santa rosa and gernville as

well. this is what we are looking at. a cold front is slowly moving south toward the bay area, and this definitely will bring parts of the bay area light rain tomorrow of the we will look at the timing of the showers in a bit. >> thank you. new details in the crash that killed a high school student. abc news learned the driver that caused the deadly crash has been booked. he was a passenger in his family's mini-van. they were rear-ended at a stoplight. his mom is critically injured and his sister hurt, but is expected to survive. abc7 news reporter is live with tonight's developments. sergio? >> as you know pretty quickly after this crash on friday, the police put the blame squarely on the should you ares of a driver driver -- on the shoulders of a silver mercedes-benz. they saw how fast she was driving and witnesses describe her going as fast as 80 miles an hour.

this afternoon we were told she was arrested on friday and this evening we learned she quickly bonded out of jail. from sky 7hd you can see a toppled mercedes-benz suv and what is left of a mangled mini-van. the driver of the so caused the crash. the driver caused the crash. she was booked for vehicular manslaughter. her arrest includes an allegation of gross negligence because of how fast and erratic police say she was driving. >> the high rate of speed was for several blocks. the independent witnesses couldn't believe how fast they were going. >> the driver was taken to the hospital on friday morning and was booked into the san francisco county jail after being treated and released. he was killed and his sister was seriously injured as was the mother who was driving the

the freeway. it happened just after 9:00 this evening near thorton avenue. firefighters had to untangle the wreckage to free at least two of the victims. a small jet crashed moments after landing. they believe nobody survived the crash. the f.a.a. says the cessna citation just arrived from idaho. it remains unclear how many people were on board the jet or if anyone was in the hangar. the hangar was destroyed. an emotional plea from the family of a dodgers fan stabbed to death at at&t park. jonathon denver was killed in an apparent fight with a giants fan. lilian kim is live at at&t park with the story. lilian? >> reporter: today's giants game was the last of the season. they took the opportunity to reach out to as many people as they could. >> i believe someone may have videotaped the incident and can help us discover the truth.

rare appearance. he has permanent brain damage after being beaten outside the stadium. the stowes send their condolences to denver's family. >> i don't know how this will end. i only know i have lost my son too soon. >> in san francisco, lilian kim, abc7 news. >> police in vallejo are investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old man. the man was shot several times including in the neck outside of an apartment complex a little after 7:00. the victim staggers into an an apartment where he died. they heard 16 shots fired. now to developing news out of washington where the government is teetering on the brink of a partial shutdown and that has many people fired up. constituencies.

workers will also stay home. joe jones who cuts hair at a mississippi air force base wants to talk to congress. >> if they lose their paycheck like everybody else will it may help motivate them to solve problems. >> perhaps even that is not enough motivation to avoid monday night's government shutdown. abc news, washington. >> coming up later this hour, how will obamacare affect you? what you need to know if you already have insurance. three men are receiving treatment for burns suffered in a santa cruz gas explosion. it happened at 1:30 this afternoon on third street. the fire officials say the explosion was in a small out building next to the victim's apartment. people in the apartment building told reporters they thought it was an earthquake. police are calling the explosion suspicious. investigators are looking into the cause of this early-morning house fire on 79th avenue. fire officials say the house was abandoned except for a squater and believe that person may have accidentally sparked the flames.

good news out of mendocino county where the highland fire is 100% contained. the fire started yesterday afternoon southeast of kill seeville in lake county. the flames chewed up 99 acres of brush and forest before full containment was announced after 6:00 this evening. two burglars have been caught on tape and police need your help to identify them. the suspects were caught trying to break down the door last tuesday. one noticed the surveillance camera and tried to destroy it. police are not releasing what was stolen, but they have posted the video on youtube to get as many views as possible. new at 11, children playing in golden gate park made a disturbing discovery. it was a loaded handgun. it was found in the bushes near the conservatory of flowers. children were attending a birthday party when one of them found the weapon. the child told his parents who contacted police. officers came and took possession of the gun. the lights came back on this evening for for residents of treasure island and it looks like a kite is to blame.

that at mountain view's shoreline am paw theater. they arrested 100 people mostly for drug and alcohol violations. they say the large outdoor raid attracted 20,000 people. three teenagers were arrested in mill valley following a drug-fueled party and a confrontation with sheriff deputies. paramedics were called this morning to a house on reed boulevard. they found a person covered in blood from self-inflicted injuries and under the influence of lsd. they were confronted by combative party goers. nasa scientists are preparing to launch a three-day printer into space. the toaster-sized machine could be a game changer for astronauts and it could lighten their load when it comes to luging spare parts and tools into space. these folks want to be the first commercial passengers to venture into space. virgin galactic wants to

patchy fog. ante yoke, mild -- antioch mild at 65 and livermore at 64 degrees. here is a look at our forecast highlights. we will go with some light showers developing mainly in the north bay overnight. showers for your monday, once again main lie in the north bay. they will be very light and then get ready for a warm up as we head toward the latter part of the workweek. you can see the system moving to the south and let's show you the timing. 11:00 right now we get a sense that the radar is picking up on the enhancement of the front around the north coast. overnight you will see a few little waves of moisture move south. 5:00 a.m. commute time tomorrow morning and maybe the heavy mist and drizzle near san francisco and along the coast. but most of the heaviest rain will still be near fort bragg. slowly it will push toward the south. by 2:00 it really just falls apart, folks. not a lot of substantial energy with this system to hold it together.

i'm in for ama dates. in tonight's headlines, the family of a stabbing victim passed out fliers before today's giants game. they hope witnesses will come forward and provide more details about his death. dodgers' fan jonathon denver died after being stabbed near at&t park on wednesday night. police releasedded a potential suspect due to lack of evidence against him. san francisco police say they have arrested a woman suspected of causing a deadly accident on friday morning. 16-year-old kevin son died after a speeding suv rear-ended his family's mini-van. his friends held a vigil at the crash scene. an 18-year-old man died after being shot in vallejo. it happened at an apartment right after 7:00 p.m. it appears the victim was shot in the neck. this week marks the 20th anniversary of a story that stunned the bay area. a young girl snatched from her petaluma home. the abduction and killing of polly klass lead to major changes from the law to police

down power lines and gusts up to 70 miles an hour are expected overnight. in evening land, passengers were jumping off a tour boat that caught fire in the river tames. all people on board including five children and two crew members did get out in time. passengers say the boat's engine caught fire and was soon throwing heavy smoke into the air. three passengers went to the hospital as precaution. the second round of legal proceedings will begin tomorrow. 11 rig workers died in the april 2010 explosion that saw millions of gallons of oil seep into the gulf of mexico. phase two will hear arguments on whether bp was grossly negligent in its handling of the disaster. phase one settled how much oil was spilled. in italy, amanda knox's retrial for the murder of her roommate will go on without knox. the trial starts tomorrow, but knox has decided to avoid that courtroom and she is not required to be there according

the next couple weeks everyone's plan will look a little different. that's because the affordable care act goes into affect january 1st. >> it will standardize the market. >> kaiser permanente ensures 9 million california expanse most get their insurance from their employers. beginning in january, everyone will have to choose a new plan based on the government's uniform insurance categories. the health plans are categorized as bronze, silver, gold and platinum. with these new plans your costs may go up or down. depending on which plan you choose, your medical insurance will cover anywhere from 60 to 90% of your total medical costs. >> so it is much like you do in other industries where you are looking at a car insurance and you are saying what kind of deductible do i want to pay? >> those deductibles are standardized ranging from 0 to $5,000 depending on the level of service you choose. if you already have medical insurance you likely won't see much of a change in the medical coverage that you have now. >> i don't believe for us

there are any cases where people will have less benefits. >> but there are other changes mandated by the affordable care act. insurance companies can no longer deny coverage for preexisting conditions, and if you do get sick, the act makes it illegal for health insurance companies to arbitrarily can sell your insurance. when it comes to rate increases, well they can raise your rates if you do get sick, but insurance companies are now accountable for those. as for doctor choice, the law protects that. and when it comes to essential health benefits, the law ends lifetime and yearly dollar limits. the affordable health act guarantees your right to appeal any denial of care. >> benefits will get better. generally. >> blue shield of californian sures about three million people. >> part of the insurance plan now is preventative coverage is covered and that includes adults and children. >> for many people medical expenses will likely go down. that's because the affordable care act requires all policies
